We are proud and privileged to be an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. This means direct funding from taxpayers plays a huge part in supporting our work.

However, our NPO funding covers only around a quarter of our overall annual spending. Therefore we also rely on donations from generous individuals and a range of statutory and non-statutory funders to survive. These include Historic England, Croydon Council and the Mayor of London; as well as broad range charitable trusts & foundations. We are also grateful for the support of National Lottery players whose contributions are awarded by bodies like the Arts Council, the National Lottery Heritage Fund & the National Lottery Community Fund.

Alongside these major funders, we could not continue to operate without the kindness of individual donors. Without your support we wouldn’t have been able to survive the extraordinary challenges of the last few years and to be in a position to look forward with real confidence.

In addition, we are pleased to be an active member of Future Arts Centres, an active network of UK arts centres. Through our membership we are able to help shape and influence the network’s activity and learning, as well as share our own experience and take a lead where we have particular strengths. We have direct access to more than 170 UK arts centres operating with comparable business models and approaches, and we are also connected to external expertise through Future Arts Centres’ associates and partners.
