Norwood Junk Action Workshop

Norwood Junk Action

Join artist Norman Mine for the presentation of Norwood Junkaction, an environmental community project which aims to build alternative and educative ways of approaching the issue of litter dumped in the neighbourhood and public space.

The project will transform the Norwood Junction neighbourhood into an open art gallery to exhibit artwork/installations made of litter collected from the street by local volunteers. The project is the outcome of a month of studio-based practice, workshops and curatorial activities in conversations with and around the community, mainly with the Litter Picking Friends of Norwood Junction, a self-organised group actively engaged in maintaining the neighbourhood.

You can learn more about the project and explore some examples of the kind of workshops we’ll be holding at this first event. The workshop will start at 8 pm and will last approx 40 mins. You are welcome to come at any time in between, but make sure you are within this timeframe if you wish to attend the workshop.

As Norwood JunkAction is looking at how we can create awareness about the litter dumped in our neighbourhood by transforming it into art, it is built around you and our community. On the day, we will explore how we can turn things that inspire, annoy, bother, or excite us into a work of art. Feel free to bring along any materials (preferably not organic waste) that
meet these purposes of the project.
