Rejoice badhayaan – community dance workshops
Join our Community Dance Project over 4 evenings to create a piece of South Asian inspired dance!
Looking to try something new? Come along between 30 May – 2 June, 7-8.30pm to co-create a new dance piece in celebration on the platinum jubilee with choreographer Anusha Subramanyam from Beeja Dance.
Badhayaan is the Indian word which means congratulations to the queen and to the nation. This dance will be a celebration of the glorious reign of Queen Elizabeth II and will incorporate the multi facets of the Queen including her love for dancing and dogs!
The dance will be a collaborative way of making with the participants, with a hint of Indian dance and some Bollywood. A connection to being the monarch of the Commonwealth.
No previous dance experience is needed to join – just enthusiasm to try something different and to move!
Learn some basic dance technique and create a short piece of performance together. The choreography will then be performed at Stanley Arts on 4 June as part of our Jubilee celebration in front of an audience.
If you would like to join this project please contact Nina at email@example.com to discuss what support you might need to access this project.
This series of workshops have been made possible thanks to funding from the Let’s Create Jubilee Fund to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this June.
