BirdGang Ltd: Family (dys)Function

Get ready to experience a collision of analogue and digital worlds as hip hop movement architects BirdGang Ltd bring together an intergenerational cast from the communities of Croydon.

 

Boomers, Millennials, Gen Z and everyone in between are invited to join a family gathering at Stanley Arts. This new production will feature BirdGang’s unique blend of movement, spoken word and music, in a light-hearted exploration of connectivity across generations.

An award-winning company with hip hop at its heart, BirdGang Ltd choreograph, teach and produce avant-garde dance for stage, screen and live events. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience their latest dance invention.

About BirdGang Ltd
BirdGang Ltd is an award-winning collective of hip hop movement architects with a global reputation. Former associate dance company to the Young Vic, now resident at Stanley Arts, the company delivers striking performance projects, teaching and artist development initiatives.

BirdGang’s work has been performed at the Royal Opera House, Sadler’s Wells, Luxembourg Grand Theatre and the Harlem Apollo. It includes Vicycle (world tour co-produced by Breakin’ Convention), The Aviary (touring production British Council, Sri Lanka, San Francisco Hip Hop Festival, Luxembourg Grand Theatre), The Network (touring Luxembourg & San Francisco), A Vice in Harlem (Harare International Festival, 2015 British Council); A Harlem Dream (Young Vic), Street Dance 3D Movie 1 & 2 Movie (UK, India), Impressions and BIRDS-EYE-VIEW.

BirdGang’s partnership with Croydon Council and Stanley Arts allows dance to thrive locally and globally; with 15,000 pupils and followers, the company sustains a flock of 58 freelance dancers, generating performance and teaching opportunities, mentorship, skills development and shadowing opportunities.

BirdGang’s Directors Kendra Horsbrough, Ukweli Roach & Simeon Osyea work globally, in Hollywood, on Broadway and the West End, in television and film. They have worked with Dynamo, Live Nation, Fiat, T-Mobile, Fabric, Sky, Bose, JD Sports, Oxfam, Mariah Carey, Kylie Minogue, Cheryl Cole and JLS.
