Volunteer call out: Learning and Engagement

We’re on the lookout for volunteers to support our Learning and Engagement programme!

Are you interested in engaging diverse communities in heritage and the arts? Stanley Arts is looking for Learning and Engagement Volunteers to help facilitate a range of exciting learning activities that are part of the two heritage programmes we are currently delivering:

  • The National Lottery Heritage Fund Decorative scheme project, which engages audiences, especially schools, families and people living with dementia in the decorative features and colourful history of our building.
  • The Historic England project “Framing Croydon”, which aims to generate community support for Croydon’s historic built environment through walking tours, knowledge sharing panels, events and workshops.

Activities you could get involved in include:

  • Helping with school workshops
  • Supporting heritage events, such as dementia-friendly coffee mornings and craft activities
  • Delivering walking tours through Croydon as part of the Open House Festival 2024 in September

Location: Stanley Arts, 12 South Norwood Hill, London, SE25 6AB and offsite in other Croydon locations

Time Commitment: There are different opportunities to get involved depending on the activities you would like to support:

  • School workshops usually take place on weekdays during term time between June 2024- January 2025
  • Heritage weekend events between June 2024- January 2025
  • Walking tours during the Open House Festival 2024 (14-22 September 2024)

Support and Supervision: This role will sit in the Learning and Engagement team, who will facilitate the activities and provide volunteer support.

Skills/Experience Required:

  • An interest in heritage, arts and/or local history
  • Enthusiasm to deliver learning activities and engage a broad range of audiences
  • An interest in working with people living with dementia, families and schools
  • Reliable and keen to get involved

An informal phone interview will take place to ensure the volunteering opportunity is right for you.

Training to take place week commencing 8th July.

All volunteers will be subject to a basic DBS check before volunteering takes place.
