Sponsor a Tile at Stanley Arts

Preserve the Past, Invest in the Future

Stanley Halls was built between 1903 and 1909 by the inventor and entrepreneur William Stanley as an entertainment venue for the community of South Norwood. One of its most beautiful features has always been the original Edwardian ceramic tiles that adorn its walls, corridors and public spaces.

Over the past hundred years, many of these tiles have been damaged and we need your help to restore them to their former glory.

We have already begun the slow and painstaking task of restoring the most damaged tiles in our Assembly Room and Society Room performance spaces; but there are missing and broken areas where we will need to make complete replacements. Using original techniques from over 100 years ago, the manufacturer Craven Dunhill Jackfield will ensure that these replacement tiles are indistinguishable from the originals.

BUT we need your help to fund the manufacture and installation of these unique and faithful replacement tiles.

By sponsoring a tile you will:

  • Contribute to the preservation of the building ensuring that future generations continue to experience its beauty and history.
  • Invest in the next generation of artisans; preserving traditional manufacturing techniques and processes.
  • Permanently and secretly enshrine your contribution in the building’s fabric.

Visit our Donate page for more information. Sponsorship starts from as little as £25.
