Queer Season

1 Jul - 31 Jul

Things are getting queer Stanley style, and we can’t wait to share all the events with you!

We’re showcasing fresh, South London queer talent for your eyes only, we’re working alongside Bold Mellon and Raze Collective and we’ll also be joined by Mama G as we present Family Pride for the 3rd year running. There’s plenty happening that will leave you wanting more!

Queer Season

Our season starts with Mama G’s Family Pride Party on the 2nd of July! Expect performances from Mama G herself, popular authors and illustrators, stars from previous Stanley Arts pantos, scientists, sports people and comedians! All celebrating the breadth and diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community. As well as stalls, workshops, and food and drink courtesy of Stanley Arts!

We’re not stopping there either… we continue to support local queer talents as we bring you Collide and Queer Joy across July!

For Collide we transform the building, filling the space with queer art takeover. 10 artists – performers, poets, filmmakers, DJs, visual artists & plenty in between – will share new pieces of work in this experimental, building wide takeover!

Be sure to check out our Queer Joy Exhibition too, open from the 7th of July until the end of the month. Here, we invite you to a dynamic, accessible and free to attend showcase of powerful multidisciplinary art work by emerging LGBTQIA+ artists and community members exploring pivotal stories of underrepresented queer voices and their personal journeys from a global perspective. Find out more on its opening times by clicking here.

Queer Joy doesn’t end there either! On the 14th, we’re joined by queer icons and hosts of ‘Their Majesties’: Asifa Lahore – Britain’s first out Muslim drag queen – and Claudia Coelho (aka Shepherd’s Bush), legendary queer cabaret performance artist Charlie Wood and cultural-taboo-eliminating powerhouse Toni Murphy whose work centres the BIPOC experience. The discussion will be monitored by Emilia Nurmukamet and Dear Annie. This event will also be BSL interpreted. Find out more about Queer Joy: In Conversation, click here.

We’re also very excited to announce our second evening with unforgettable poetry from the talented poets published by fourteen poems, taking place on July 12th. Expect poetry from the likes of Cleo Henry, Jinhao Xie, Oluwaseun Olayiwola and Remi Graves.
